where has Entopia gone?

One of my clients is interested in Entopia, so I was taking a look.

I tried to go to the web site and it was replaced by one of those placeholder spam sites which pops up several spammy windows. It seems like the kind of thing that might have viruses, worms or trojans, so I'd suggest against opening the site in IE, or really, at all on a Windows machine.

No one answered at one phone number, the other two I found were disconnected.

Casualty of the recession? Acquired by someone? It's a mystery, and I'm curious.

ETA: The Wayback Machine (archive.org) has an actual home page as of June 13, 2006 and an empty page as of July 1 of that year. I always thought they were promising more than they could deliver, so this is perhaps confirmation.

Entopia went out of business since 1 june 2006. very sad, was great company with great product which proved it self at BOING, SAAB (won Autonomy and Google competition there), INTEL Business Research, just to name a few. Bad management was the real problem, it had US office with about 20 workers, everyone of which had the "VP" title on their business card. Hell I think even after hours office cleaner lady had "VP of convenience" title and appropriate to VP salary. 80% of the money that was risen from venture fund went to US office that produced about 20% of income.

Thanks for your note. A little bit of history is always goodl

Sounds like the usual greed problems, with no one to keep the US office in line. I'm sorry it's gone. Do you have any idea what happened t their intellectual property, As I hate to see it all go to waste.

Please keep in touch, and if you have any insights on search that you'd like to chat about, Drop me a note here or via my web site.
